Adventures in couponing.

Normally I do my Adventures in Couponing posts on Sundays, but with the holiday season I am all off on my schedule.  Not to mention that the dining room table was Santa’s Workshop so there wasn’t even the place to take the pictures.  But last night, we got it together and here we are with some more smokin’ hot deals.

Rhodes rolls.  Ever had ’em?  They are insanely good.  The only thing better than these rolls is homemade rolls.  But since those are out of the question for me, these are hands down the best rolls on the market.  Regular price $2.99.  On sale at Albertsons for $2.50.  I had $1 off any Rhodes product, doubled that, and got these for 50-cents each.

Philadelphia cream cheese is so holiday, isn’t it?  I love me some cream cheese too.  The only thing that makes cream cheese better is when it’s free.  Everything tastes better when it’s free – heh.  Regular price on these was $1.99, they were on sale for 99-cents each, I had coupons for $1 off (2) which I doubled and got (2) FREE per coupon.  That’s (6) free cream cheeses right there, my friends.

How do you follow free cream cheese?  That’s tough to do.  But free Cool Whip and Nestle Tollhouse cookies can beat free cream cheese.  The Cool Whip was on sale for $1, I had coupons for $1 off (2) which I doubled and scored (6) free Cool Whips.  The Nestles were on sale for $2, I had coupons for $1 off (1) which I doubled and got (2) for free.

I had more of these Cranberry Sierra Mists, like (10) of them, but we drank a bunch of them before taking the pictures last night.  They were $1.99 on sale for $1.25 and each bottle had a peelie on it for 50-cents off.  Doubled the peelies for $1 off each bottle which made them 25-cents each.  The Bayers were NOT on sale – they were at their normal price of $2.49.  I had coupons for $1 off each, doubled them and got these for 49-cents each.  That’s a great stock-up price.  Nothing worse than someone being sick in the house and having to run out to the Walgreens or wherever and having to pay $6 for something.

Ohhhh the Zoo Pals!  This was a sa-weeet deal because I got a deal on top of the deal.  So these cute lil’ kiddie paper plates are normally $2.99 each.  They were on sale for $1.50 which is not a bad price at all; not a stock-up price, but not a bad one for a little something fun for the kids’ lunch time.  I had coupons for $1 off each which I doubled and got them free.  And THEN I had coupons for buy 2, get 1 free.  So for every 2 that I “bought” (even though I doubled and got free), I got a 3rd one for free.  I got (9) of these bad boys for free – big score!

And how do you follow a big score?  With an even bigger one – ha.  We’re callin’ this one the Great Tillamook Haul of 2010.  I don’t “do” Facebook.  My feeling is that if I wanted to be friends or keep in touch with all those people from back in the day, we would still be in touch 😉  That being said, there are a lot of companies that have coupons and contests on their Facebook pages.  So I did create a dummy Facebook account just to be able to log in and print out coupons on manufacturer sites.  The Tillamook Cheese folks had a $1 off coupon on their page.  Do you have Tillamook cheese where you are or is it just a PNW thing?  It’s good cheese…really good cheese.  And when I went to print out the coupon, it was a PDF and not a normal 1-2 time print.  PDF to me means happy days are here again! – LOL

  TillamookCoupon

I printed out (40) coupons ONLY because the cheese was on sale this particular week.  Regular price was $4.19!! but on sale for $2 each, double the dollar = free; cha-ching-ching-ching!!  I gave (10) coupons to a coupon lady at work, got me (20), and then sent my husband to another Albies for another (10) – sometimes it’s nice to not wipe a store out of all their sale product and leave it there for the poor fella that’s going to come by and pay full price for it – heh.

And just a little follow-up to last week’s Adventures in Couponing post, I took a boatload of coupons, and my Walgreens Jingle Cash – see last week’s post for explanation – and this was my total before…:

….and after coupons and Walgreens Jingle Cash….:

Fun stuff, eh?  And guess what – next Sunday the 2nd there are going to be FIVE coupon inserts in your local paper.  If you don’t subscribe to the Sunday paper, now would be a good time!

I think the free cream cheese is the best! I eat a ton of cream cheese between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I made a chocolate cheesecake and a lemon cheescake ball for Christmas Eve dinner. I go into cream cheese re-hab right after christmas. I’m forced to eat Lean Cuisine until the cream cheese fat is gone. LOL

We have Rhodes dinner rolls but I haven’t seen them in packs like you bought…we have the bag of Rhodes dough balls where you let them rise and bake them and they are homemade delicious. I actually do make homemade rolls but the Rhodes are just as good and I don’t have a mess to clean up. I have never heard of Tillamook cheese but all I have nearby is “The Walmart”. Zoo pals are awesome! My kids love those but I am too cheap to buy them. My oldest daughter thinks I’m the biggest cheapskate in the world. Having a little money in the bank makes me feel better than having a house full of junk.

Ya know, I don’t care for Facebook (I don’t do reunions either). I have an account and do comment occasionally (I rarely post anything on my own wall) but mainly I use it for checking up on my older daughter’s account, seeing if Paper Crafts has sent out all their acceptance e-mails and I let my younger daughter play games on my account. I don’t care to know every little detail of someone’s life and some people like to post every little thing they do or think. “Just went to the bathroom and discovered I was out of toilet paper. Darn!” I’m exaggerating of course. hee hee

Sorry, for writing you a book! LOL

AAAAAAAHHHHHH…you’re KILLING ME!!! Besides being awed and envious, I am now hungry – want me some rolls with cream cheese, LOL. You are amazing. I have a facebook account – I created it to be able to see a relative’s photos, but now try to avoid it. Who the heck are all these people wanting to be friends??? Why want to be friends with friends of friends? OH and I love those photos at the end. The lady is smiling with the before total and then looks distressed at the after total (like – hey, wait a minute – is that right?!) LOL!
