The journey is your reward + rite aid update.

Sometimes during the week after a long day of work I want to just gel at my craft table.  Looking at my pretty ribbons and fun embellies makes me happy.  And I want to create – because that makes me happy too.  However, I don’t have all that much time or patience – less than usual – or creative brainpower, left at 9 o’clock on a Wednesday night.  So I go down the quick & easy route.  Like I did with this fun little card made with some Glitz Design goodies.

 Go_01_04_11

Don’t you just love that vintage card image?  They’re called Whatnots – what a cute little name!  I didn’t want to cut it, so I made a bigger card – this one is 5×7; great for writing a little more in.  I already know exactly who I am sending this card to.  Blueberry Sky from Papertrey Ink is quickly becoming one of my new favorite colors; the paper is yum and the ribbon is even more yum.

Alrighty.  Moving right along.  Going backwards actually.  So if you tune in to my Adventures in Couponing posts on Sundays, and you were here yesterday, you know that I was going to give Rite Aid another chance.  I mean how could I not? – free toilet paper, hello!

RiteAidTP1_16_11

The cool thing about Rite Aid +Up Rewards is that they roll.  Which means you buy (10) packs of toilet paper, you pay your $10, and then you get $10 +Up Rewards back that you can use to pay for the next batch.  And keep going until you want to stop – or until they run out of product – LOL

RiteAid1_1_16_11

We were planning on taking a family trip down to Rite Aid and get there before they opened, but I was looking online for store hours and found a 24-hour Rite Aid downtown.  This was at 6am.  So I threw on a hat and bolted the house out in the dark and the rain for free toilet paper.  And there it was.  They still had some on the shelves, the sign was there.  All systems are a go.

RiteAid2_1_16_11

4-packs and single rolls…and facial tissue (generic Kleenex) too.  All of it.  $1 and you get $1 back on every single one.  Sweet Mother.

RiteAid5_1_16_11

I loaded up my cart – several times.

RiteAid3_1_16_11

And when I paid – it all went perfectly.  The cashiers at the downtown Rite Aid were pleasant, knew about the deal; the perfect Coupon Adventure.

RiteAid4_1_16_11

One of my cartloads at the downtown store.  And before anyone hates on me – remember, this is my blog and if you hate on me I will ban you forever 😉 – I did leave some, there were other people there loading up too, and I’m going to donate half of this to my church food pantry (they accept toiletries too).  It wasn’t all me and it’s not all for me.  So hush 😛

RiteAid6_1_16_11

So I headed up to another Rite Aid and bought a lil’ more.  They didn’t have the signs up, but the deal still worked.  Kinda.  The +Ups wouldn’t scan so the lady had to key them in – and she was not happy.  Oh man she was like really not happy.  I tried to smile and make nice and told her don’t worry about it blah blah blah, but she was getting more ticked by the minute – LOL  The supervisor came to help her because I think she sensed that this lady was gonna go postal at any moment.

RiteAid7_1_16_11

So I was getting my $1s on my toilet papers and kleenexes and I heard that on some you were getting an extra $3 one – I did.  On the kleenexes I got my $10 plus $3 – score.  And then do you see that?  I got a bonus $20!!  What?!  Apparently because I had spent over $100 retail this year (even though I didn’t really spend it, it was rung up), I got a bonus $20.  Um hi, I am out of pocket $10 today and you are giving me $20?  I’ll take it!

RiteAid8_1_16_11

My haul from the second Rite Aid.
I think I got about 100 things combined between both Rite Aids and  all (3) of the promo items (they’re still in the car…Sunday got a lil’ busy to unload it all).
I made $46.  I did put out $10 to start on the first transaction, so I guess technically I only made $36.
That’s a hot one right there.  And, it’s going on all week.  So if you have a Rite Aid in your area, call and find out when they re-stock (because I would bet they are out of everything right now) and plan yourself a little free toilet paper trip!

I find your couponing adventures absolutely fascinating, as we don’t really have much of this in Australia… and certainly not with these type of bargains. You seem to be an expert at it.

    Awesome!!! Great score!

How cute is that card?! Great use of the whatnot! I have to agree with you…that is the cutest name for product! Tee hee!

    I think I might be glad we don’t have a Rite-Aid here….:)

Love that vintage card and your card creation! and GAH – you did it again, didn’t you? Made me so envious! There’s no way we get those kind of deals here. That is SO cool and you’re probably only one of the few that take advantage of it. I wish we had a Rite Aid here…I need to stock up on my paper toiletries, too, lol.

Love the cute card – especially the color!
I actually love Rite Aid and make out my list and use my UP rewards every week. So glad you’re having fun. Maybe you should take the kids out for their first night of tp-ing?! 😀

Hmm…Glitz Design – must find some goodies for myself! LOVE! Congrats on the DT – you’re hob-nobbin with the best – because you’re one of the BEST!

That card is soooo CUTE! I love the Blueberry Sky color too but haven’t found too many paper packs that it coordinates with. You crack me up with your coupon adventures! They are so fun to read, but I still won’t ever do it. First off, I don’t get up early and I don’t have any room to store the extras:)

What a sweet little image. Love the colour combo and patterned paper too – just right for a little boy on the “go”!!

    glad you have a rite-aid, we don’t 🙁

I like your card a lot (love that blueberry sky too!), but you and couponing are such a hoot! I have a good friend like you and she does the same type of thing :-).

SCORE!! You go girl. I am a TP hoarder so I’d be all over that except we’ll only use one kind too and I don’t have any kids to use it up. I’d be all over donating it though. Good for you!

Aw, man, Heather stole my T.P.ing joke, LOL! Whew, I’m so glad you had a good experience at Rite Aid this time (I cringed a little when I saw you were going back, hee!). I have a rewards card there and go occasionally, but . . . I am so clueless about some things. I recently bought some stuff and as I was picking each thing out, I added up the total in my head (to stick to the budget, you know). But when the cashier rang them up, it cost a lot less than I thought. I now understand about the +Up rewards!! P.S. Great card–it’s clever and deliciously vintage!
