Adventures in Couponing + an HBA Giveaway.

Oh. My. Heavens.  Remember this Coupon Adventure that I had a month ago which I referred to as “the best yet”?  Well I didn’t know how, or even if, I would ever top that one.  But I have.  Oh yes, I have.  This week was a hot hot hot smokin’ hot week at Rite Aid.  And I scored – big.

I started the day with $24 in +Ups – essentially $24 to spend.  Remember that.  $24.  So off we went, my little helper and I, leaving the house at 4:33am on Sunday.  Hey – he wanted to go.  And we got to our Rite Aid at 5am on the dot.

Colgate was on sale for $2.99.  You got a $2 +Up back on each one making them 99-cents.  I had $1-off coupons from the Sunday newspaper coupons and got these for free.

Afrin.  These were on sale for $5.99 with a $4 +Up on each making them $1.99 each.  I had coupons for $2-off AND $3-off AND a coupon from the Rite Aid website for watching videos which you can add on to a manufacturer’s coupon, so I actually made $6 on these.

The Coricidin was a fun one.  Fun because while my girl was ringing me up the shift supervisor (who does not like couponers at all) nosed in to my transaction and said that I was only allowed to buy 2 Coricidins because I’m going to go home and make meth out of it and they made a law that said I could only get 2.  I just smiled and nodded because I really don’t like this lady.  It was my understanding that all these sorts of things were behind the pharmacy counter, but whatever.  They were out there, I had coupons for 8, the register made my girl put in my date of birth and she let me have all 8 – LOL

The Stayfree were cool.  Didn’t know it worked like this but found out via the I Heart Rite Aid blog that it does.  So the Stayfree were on sale BOGO (buy 1, get one free).  I had coupons for BOGO Stayfree.  So I buy 1, and they give me one free.  And then my coupon pays for the one that I bought.  Pretty cool, eh?  These went straight to the church.  Oh – another funny.  At our first Rite Aid they were completely out of Stayfree pads.  At 5am, really?  They said that a man came and filled 2 carts worth at 1am – sale starts at midnight.  A man?  LOL  They said that he said that he’s got daughters.

Jif peanut butter was on sale for $1.99 with a $1 +Up making them 99-cents each.  I also had a coupon from the Rite Aid videos for $1-off (2) making these 49-cents each.  The paper plates were BOGO and then I had a coupon from the Rite Aid videos for $3-off (2) making it 99-cents for both of these.  The Sally Hansen nail polish was buy 1 get 1 half off – not the greatest deal ever but I also had a coupon that I used on each making it $2.45 for both of these and they’ll be a little gift in my daughter’s Valentine bucket.  The Iron was BOGO, I had coupons for $1-off each so I got both for $6.98 – not sure if that’s a good deal but considering they would have been $17.96, and I needed it, that’s a score in my book.

It was 25 degrees out when we left the house…and we’re out buyin’ ice cream!  Dreyers ice cream was on sale for $2.99 with a $2 +Up coming back making these 99-cents each.  There was also a promo where you bought $15 of certain items – these included – you get an additional $5 +Up back.  So follow my math on this:  $2.99 x 6 = $17.94; minus $2 +Up on each takes it down to $5.94; then factor in the additional $5 +Up = 6 tubs of ice cream for 94-cents total.  Hello!  I did this twice…there are 4 more tubs in another freezer.

Lay’s Stax were the deal of the week.  On sale for $1 each giving you a $1 +Up back = free.
All 53 cans of ’em (from different Rite Aids – again, don’t be a shelf-clearer).

Alright.  So what was that number again?  The number that I started the trip with?  $24.  Started with $24 +Ups to play with.  With moneymaker coupon scenarios, and getting extra +Ups here and there for being part of the Winter Rewards promo where you buy x of certain products, and the Heart Healthy promo where you buy x of certain products, I finished this Rite Aid caper with $102 +Ups.  ONE HUNDRED AND TWO DOLLARS.  I got everything you see above, gave up my $24 +Ups, have $102 +Ups now which = a net profit of $78…and all the stuff to boot!  Holy Hannah!

You Go Girl!! Woot! Woot! I had some great luck at Rite Aid this week too. Especially on the Stay Free!! When they see me coming they say, oh! it’s the homeless shelter lady here again for her Maxis!!! Several weeks ago I was able to deliver 29 packages of Stay Free Maxi’s to them and only had $6.00 invested. Not too shabby!! I forgot the darn toothpaste this week though!! Oh well! Great give away you’re offering!! Hope I win! Oh ya…. got 5 tubs of Edy’s icecream too!!

You make couponing sound so much fun! Honestly, I don’t have the patience for it… but what a way to stock a foodshelf or church pantry!

  9. Heather

Rite Aid probably has your picture posted in the back warning all the employees about you. They’re probably all asking for Sundays off. LOL Haven’t even looked at my ads yet, but I’m definitely getting in on the ice cream deal.

  10. Debbie

I just love your posts! You continually amaze me with your adventures and even inspired me to write Vons asking them to reinstate the double coupons in my area. Hope it works. Even my daughter, after I read your posts to her, has begun to use coupons and shop smartly. Way to go! Husband not yet on board, but we’re working on him. Thank you.

Holy Mother of God! SCORE! The other day I put back a can of Stax because I knew if I bought them I would eat every.single.one. Chips are my huge downfall —-especially those Sour Cream & onion Stax. And you bought 53?!!!! I am so jealous right this very minute! How long do you have to spend the $102? Does it expire?
