Earth Day.

I honestly didn’t know about Earth Day until I met my husband. He’s one of those nature-loving kinda people. I’m a city girl and he’s a bird-watcher. We met in November of 1993 and the following April he was dragging me to this Earth Day Festival thing at the Concord Pavilion (Northern California). So given my choice of projects this month for the Glue Dots® Adhesives Design Team, I had to take Earth Day for one of them!
I picked up some vintage Australian yarn at the antique shop and thought it would be a great gift for a crafty friend. No matter what segment of craftyness you enjoy, you can almost always use yarn: cards, gifts, scrapbook pages, bookmarks, wreaths, and more.
I wrapped a piece of muslin around both skeins, tied some Webster’s Pages fabric trim around it, and then topped it with a little taggie made with a Jenni Bowlin bingo card, some Cosmo Cricket chipboard and sticker border – I was saving that one lil’ girl/earth piece for the perfect occasion and so glad I did! – a lil’ Maya Road felt cherry embellie, and then tied it all off with some jute twine.
Yarn, muslin and jute twine – that all sounds earthy to me!

LOVE this gift idea, Michelle. The burlap wrapper and other embellishments are such a nice touch. It’s actually such a great thing when you don’t have to use wrapping paper – it always ends up in a crumpled heap. LOL

Neat idea! The person you give this to will have lots of things to work with!

You definitely worked with Earth Day appropriate items. I confess; the only reason I knew it was ED was because of the news report stating the Starbucks was giving a free drink to people who had a travel tumbler. The word ‘free’ makes me take note.

So artistic! What a neat gift to the right person. Hey–I used to live in Concord . . . a long time ago. 😀
