Adventures in Couponing.

Got a little coupon action to share with you today…and a little PSA for ya’ at the end, so stick with me here.
Walmart is getting very competitive with stores that double coupons – nationwide. So if you have a store that doubles in your market, give your local Walmart a call and see if they are doubling as well. Here in Boise, when Albertsons has double coupons – about every other week – Walmart will double those same coupons. Unless Albertsons has a really good sale that paired with a coupon and doubled, it really is more cost-effective to head to the Walmart. Not only that, but Walmart will allow you to use as many doublers as you want in one transaction whereas Albertsons will only let you use 3 per transaction which is a complete PITA to have to do multiple transactions. This morning I went to Walmart with some of my doublers, and then tomorrow I’ll head to Albertsons to get the really good deals there. So all this today is from the Walmart…
These new IHOP breakfast pastries were $2.87; I doubled $1 coupons and got them for 87-cents each. Cheap and easy breakfast for the kids. And then the Jamba smoothies were $2.49; I doubled $1 coupons and got them for 49-cents each.
The Minute Maid 10-pack of juices were $2.98; I doubled $1 coupons and got them for 98-cents each. The Dubble Bubble was $2; I doubled $1 and got it for free. Note on this one: I don’t see Dubble Bubble coupons anywhere so I went to their website and e-mailed them and they sent me a coupon! 🙂
Here’s a bunch of freebage. The Gain dish soap was $1, doubled 50-cents and got them for free. The cat treats were $1.42, doubled $1 and I got them free. And another Cascade pack – LOL – 97-cents, doubled 50-cents and it was free.
The dijon mustards were $2.37; I doubled 75-cent coupons and got them for 87-cents each. I had bunches of these coupons but for 87-cents to me that’s not something to buy 10 of. I guess “dijon” means expensive. The honey mustard dipping sauce however, was $2, doubled $1 and got it for free. And the Aquafresh were the 97-cent trial size ones; I had $1 “off any” and got these free without doubling.
These Hidden Valley Ranch dressing kits were $2.50, doubled $1 and got them for 50-cents each.
Kettle chips were $2.78, doubled $1 and got them for 78-cents each. I’m not really a fan of chips for the kids, but for this price, and to go with tuna sammies on the weekend, I’m down.
Milk coupons! Milk was $2.26 at the Walmart; I doubled 75-cent coupons and got them for 76-each. And the cough drops were actually from Walgreens earlier this week. There are coupons in the paper for $3-off any 2 Vicks products and $1-off any $1 so I mixed and matched those with these Vicks cough drops and got 18 boxes for a total of 12-cents.
And here’s my PSA (public service announcement): it does no good to pay your car registration and not put the little sticker on your car because you can get pulled over for that. The police officer was really nice and said “just show me your proof of insurance and you can go.” Here’s PSA numero dos: when the insurance company mails you the current insurance thing to keep in your glovebox, put it in your glovebox. It does no good sitting at home on your desk. Yeah.

Love your coupon posts! I was actually thinking of you today because I used some coupons on my regular grocery store run. I had a $20 off my whole purchase and some cereal coupons which I matched with sale prices… I was so proud! LOL Those little french toast things look interesting. Let us know if they taste good!

Awesome coupon adventures! But I see you also had a police adventure – not so good. Did he give you a ticket for not having your sticker or insurance card? I’m always late w/ my stuff too, lol.

I hope your son is ok. Burns are bad news.
I got stopped by the cops over a year ago and had to pay a $100 fine. My tags had expired and my proof of insurance was old. I had overslept and had to grab my girls and rush out the door for a dentist appt and got pulled over on the way. I burst into tears from the stress of it all and cried all the way to the dentist. It was my first ticket of any kind and the cop was a real hard ass and spoke to me quite harshly. I would have had to pay $200 if I couldn’t prove I actually had insurance when I got pulled over. What’s sad is that I remembered writing the check for my tags and apparently forgot to do anything with it so I was furiously digging through my glove box because I thought I had done it. I had to get a temporary crown at the dentist that day too. That whole day sucked and traumatized me. 🙂
