Adventures in Couponing.

This week I’ve got a little no doublers/no special policy action that anyone can score.  I know not every market has stores that offer double coupons or stores that will honor competitor prices/coupons, so I thought I’d share what I did with just regular coupons and no fancy policies this week.

I don’t shop at Fred Meyer (a Kroger store).  Like ever.  I find them to be too expensive.  But I heard that they carried these Snapware plasticware that I had coupons for.  Coupons were for $3-off and they were priced at $1.99 and less.

I had (15) coupons so I bought 15 of them and planned on getting them for free – I don’t know the Fred Meyer coupon policy at all, I just figured they’d adjust the price down.

Much to my surprise, Fred Meyer gives overage – say what?!  I had no idea.  The gal rang in my $3 coupons and took off the full amount which gave me $16.65 in overage going towards the rest of my order which I totally was not planning on.  I shopped their clearance racks and got some clothes for Christmas gifts (for 2012 ;)), and a t-shirt for my daughter’s birthday in June – $96 regular price, $63.73 clearance price, additional 60% off clearance = $25.49, less the $16.65 in overage going towards the order, so I got the clothes for $8.84.  Nice!  Definitely gonna keep my eye on this store.

And then later this same day I went to Albertsons mainly to scope out the in-store deals and spot any potential coupons on items that I could use that coming Sunday when double coupons came out.  I was still able to score some pretty good deals like the vitamin deal.  The vitamins were BOGO and they had a little coupon next to them (which you can barely see hanging down in the top of the picture) for $2-off.  Buy 1, get 1 free, and then you get $2 off EACH one.  That folic acid right there was $3.69 for 2 of them and then take $4 off.  Hello, freeness!  So awesome, that I talked to the store manager who is just fantastic and they are special ordering some more for me to pick up before the sale ends – all on the free.

The Yoplaits were on sale 10 for $6, so 60-cents each, I had coupons for 50-cents off which made them 10-cents each and then when you bought 10 you got the 4-pack for free.  The LifeSavers candy canes were Christmas clearance that I had coupons for and got them for 50-cents each.  I could have waited and gotten a better deal on these, but they didn’t have that many, and I wanted them for the kids’ birthday party this summer.  Valentine Crunch hearts were 3 for $2 and I had coupons for $2 off 3 = free.  The Aleve was $4.69 and I had $2-off coupons which can’t ever be doubled so I paid $2.69 and got these for my mom.  I really only went to the store for cheese and eggs – got a mark-down cheese.  And then the Christmas Nestle cookies were on clearance for $1 with a 55-cent coupon on them making them 45-cents.  So all this was $14.19 which is less than the price of the 4 bottles of vitamins alone!

Wow great deals! That’s cool that they could order you product and get it before the deal ends! Awesome! Surprised to see Iron on the shelf. Here it’s behind pharmacy but you don’t need a prescription to get it. Just have to ask.
Those lifesaver candy canes look yummy! ha!
