Adventures in Couponing.

When my daughter and I left to go couponing this week, I told my husband it was going to be an epic trip.  And it was – at least for me.  Great savings, the perfect storm of sales and coupons and doublers; complete awesomesauce!

So Albertsons had this deal where you buy $30 worth of certain products and you get a $10 Catalina back. Follow me on this…:  9 bottles of All detergent at $3.50 each = $31.50.  So we have met the required product purchase.  Then I had (3) $1 coupons that I doubled so that took off $6.  Then I had (3) more $1 coupons that took off $3 more.  And then I had (3) more coupons for 75-cents each which took off another $2.25 and brought my total down to $20.25.  That makes the All $2.25 a bottle.  My buy price is $2ish.  But remember, after paying that:  I got $10 back!  I took that $10 and used it on a meat deal where you buy 3 pounds of meat and you get potatoes, celery and carrots for free.  Repeat.  So – I paid a decent price for the detergent that I am brand-loyal to and then I got the roasts and veggies for free!

Purina Crispies cat treats were on sale for $1.  I doubled $1-off-2 and got all these for free.  The Vanity Fair napkins should have been cheaper than they were since they are in a Christmas dispenser, but after coupons and doublers  I was OK with paying 50-cents each as we always need napkins.

I got this very same juice free last week.  After coupons and doublers I paid 49-cents each for them this week.  The Emerald Breakfast on the Gos were 50-cents each after coupons and doublers and my daughter loves these things.  New peanut butter Cheerios were 50-cents after coupons and doublers too.  Ken’s dressing was 67-cents after coupons and doublers, and the cinnamon & sugar butter was free after everything too.  The soups were 26-cents which wasn’t a rock bottom price, but we were running low so I got a few.

Alright, here’s where it gets good…real good.  We went to Walmart and I had (10) $5 coupons for this cat food.  It was priced at $2.57.  That’s $2.43 in overage…times 10!  So I had $24.30 going towards the rest of my order – wahooo!

Trumoo chocolate milk was $3.97, I doubled $1 and they were $1.97 each – didn’t mind this since I had overage from the cat food to cover it 😉  The boxes of cereal were 58-cents, 94-cents and $1 after coupons and doublers.  And that puffed corn which totally reminds me of the puffed rice bag cereals my mom would buy back in the day were free after double coupons.

Garlic Knots were 38-cents each after doubling coupons – again, the overage took care of this; and the Gorton’s fish was 58-cents after doubling.

021 copy

14-cent Soft Soap, free toothpaste and toothbrush, free Suave deodorant, and free panty liners.  Funny story – my husband thought these little black boxes were gum and wanted to take them to work to hand out – LOL!  And the Herbal Essences was 84-cents each after double coupons.

031 copy

Free cookies, free protein bars, money-making Nesquik, and 98-cent Velveeta cheesy chili dip for our Super Bowl party.

035 copy

Spaghettios were 27-cents a can, Ortega chiles were 38-cents, and Starkist tuna pouches were 8-cents.

040 copy

Free yogurt cups, the larger Yoplaits were $1.28, free pumpkin spice butter spread, and 42-cents for this Barilla sauce.

043 copy

Free Coke Zero and free tea.  I’m not a green tea fan, so I get these on the free and give them to this nice girl who gives me her coupons and doublers.

And since we had about a foot of space left in the car, what the heck, we went to Walgreens too – ha!  The kids DHA – um, don’t even know what this is but I had a $10 RR to use and this was $10 get $10 back.  The protein bar was $2.85 get $2.85 back.  And I used some clearance Christmas candy as my fillers and figured since they are white and red with no mention of Christmas, they’ll be good little Valentine presents 😉

Christmas clearance items – my kids love the Christmas Story movie so I Santa got them hard candies and candy canes to go in their stockings in 11 months.  Should last, I think.  I gambled on the Christmas Nips too – hoping they will be OK by then too to give as little gifts.  If not – sorry in advance – LOL!  Cost was like $2 for all, but I used these as filler items, so almost free.

Chex Mix was 20-cents a bag after coupons and Register Rewards.

And then one last trip for money-making South Beach bars, free diet supplement and free Thermacare, and Arizona teas and water as my filler items.  I totally miscalculated on this trip and wasn’t ready to get the fillers and didn’t want to grab candy so I grabbed the bottle of water that I never would have paid that much for.

And when this crazy couponing morning was over, I took a longggg nap ‘cuz I was whooped!
