Adventures in Couponing.

Today I’m sharing a few weeks worth of Walgreens coupon saves.  The thing about Walgreens is that if you work it right, you can get thousands of dollars worth of products over the course of a year for probably about $30.  I love love love the Walgreens save.  It’s not as complicated as it sounds.  Almost every week they have an item – or two or three – for free.  The ad will say “buy this for $4, and get $4 back.”  And then what you do is put out that $4, pay for it, get your $4 Register Reward back and then use it to pay for something else that you get money back on.  Repeat.  Week after week.  And some weeks are a bust, but the Register Rewards are good for 2 weeks.  But then there are weeks that you can make money where you can pair a coupon with a Register Reward.  So the item is $4, you have a $1-off coupon, so you pay $3 and get $4 back.  That’s a moneymaker.  And we loooooove moneymakers 😉

I took a mini-vacation, had Register Rewards about to expire, and no plan.  So I used the Register Rewards to pay for stuff at Walgreens and didn’t get anything back.  Which is still OK because you bought something, got the RR back, and used that to buy something else.  Just means you got the first item for free.  I had to start fresh with this first transaction.  I put out $16.  The large items were all buy this and get the same back.  So all free (got my original $16 back in RRs).  The school supplies I had coupons for, and paired them with the store sale, and paid about $1 total for all the items you see here.

I rolled those to the next week where the Glades were moneymakers and I used the plus to pay for the backpack.  (So this was all free.)

I rolled those Register Rewards to pay for these 2 things.

And then the Register Rewards from those paid for all this.

Chex Mix for 20-cents each.

And then Register Rewards paid for all this.

And today I have $16 worth of Register Rewards to spend from last week, but this week is kind of a bust, so I think I’m just going to hang on to them ’til next week.  So I started a few weeks ago with $16 out of my pocket and still have $16 to spend and got all this along the way.
It’s a fun little game, no?
