Adventures in Couponing.
Posted by Michelle on July 6th, 2014 . Filed under: Couponing .Oh man, it’s been forever since I’ve posted a couponing post. I’ve had this bum knee for months, and then recovering from knee surgery has really taken me out of the game. But I’ve still been watching the ads, clipping and printing coupons, and then sending my husband and kids to coupon for me. And this week I’ve got pictures.
Super hot deal on cereal, milk and fruit at Albertsons last week. The cereal was $1.88 each when you buy 4, and then you get free milk. Even with no coupons, that’s a pretty good deal. But I had coupons that took 50-cents off the cereal, making them $1.38 each x 4 and then the free milk. Even better! I found coupons for $2 of free fruit when you buy 2 boxes of Frosted Mini Wheats. So. For $5.52 I got 4 boxes of cereal, a gallon of milk, and $4 of free fruit. Twice.
I also had coupons for BOGO pounds of Brach’s candy. And it was on sale at Albertsons for $2.49 per pound. So with the coupon it went down to $1.25 per pound. I’m going back to work in 2 weeks and need to fill my candy jar. And the caramels are great for baking.
Then I sent them to Walgreens. The Starbucks, Crystal Light, and Gum toothbrushes were buy the item for x price, and get the same $ back in Register Rewards. I would have done things differently if I was there in person, but I try to keep it simple for them so that they don’t have any surprises at the checkstand. I had some pictures to pick up, so they got those and the sodas paying with Register Rewards.
There were coupons in the newspaper for $1.50 off any Firefly toothbrush item. No size exceptions. These were 97-cents each, so 53-cents overage on each one going to the rest of the shopping trip. (My kids are too old for these, so we donated these and other toiletries to the Red Cross last week.)
I’m sending them back out today, so we’ll see how that goes!
