Hey girl….need a blog header?
Posted by Michelle on March 31st, 2011 . Filed under: Cards, October Afternoon, Personal .Hey girls! I’ve got a little girlfriend-to-girlfriend card to share with you today. And in that spirit I thought it might be nice for me to show you how much I value you all as friends and confidants. So I’m about to make a confession. Like seriously. But we’re girlfriends, remember so you can’t tell anyone because that is totally not cool to share your girlfriends’ secrets (been there, done that – both sides – and it’s just not good). Alright, so now that we’re all on board with the girlfriend pact – are you ready for my secret?
I don’t know how many days each month has in it.
There, I said it. Except for October and December, I guess. They are both 31, right? The rest of them I have no idea. Sometimes I have to figure it out when the week gets here like if I know that Sunday is April 3rd, I have to count backwards and do like a reverse math thing to figure out how many days that means are in March. 40 years old and don’t know how many days are in each month. I think I had to have known at one point but then that whole February thing messed me all up. So yeah…that’s my secret. One of them at least 😉
And here’s a lil’ October Afternoon hey girl card. I don’t use those letters near enough – they’re kinda big so I would have to plan to use them in advance. And another secret of mine – I don’t plan my cards. No sketch…no nothing beyond I want to use this paper. The rest is all up in the air. It’s kinda crazy…but so fun.
In other news….anyone need a blog header?
I’ve decided to go back to designing a little bit. It’s so fun…I just love it. I know a lot of you have Blogger with the standard header, or one that came in a box that you personalized. But I can make one custom just.for.you.
Here are some samples of ones that I’ve done…..:
No two are alike. You give me ideas on colors and themes and I pretty much take it from there. It’s like a little surprise. You have no idea what you’re going to get – but I promise you’ll love it; sized to fit your blog, of course. $25 buckaroos – the girlfriend discount 😉 Contact me (link on the sidebar) if you’re interested.

Love the card! The colors are great! I laughed with when I read about your month thing. I am always doing the 30 days has …. to figure out which one has 30 vs 31!! Have a great day!

I love your card and I am so glad you went back to making headers! Can you make me a button for my blog? Once I figure out how I want my blog to look (don’t want to pay but don’t want to look like everyone else’s) I would love for you to make me a “blog button” – and a blog award one! One for just me to give 🙂 Okay – enough ramblings 🙂 LOVE YOU – VISIT MY BLOG TODAY!

Yea, I was remembering that rhyme thing too; 30 days has September, April June and November, all the rest have 31 except for February. Now that’s stuck in my head for the day.

ok, i’m going to try to type this visual for you, as a way to remember which months have 31 days and which have 30 using your knuckles, and (for lack of a better description) ‘knuckle valleys’
make fists with each hand, put fists next to each other.
All of your knuckle ‘peaks’ represent months with 31 days,
all of your knuckle ‘valleys’ represent months with 30 days (and Feb)
Your starting point is on the left fist, pinky finger knuckle ‘peak’-January,
knuckle valley-February, knuckle peak-March, knuckle valley-April, knuckle peak-May, knuckle valley-June, knuckle peak-July… move to right fist, knuckle peak-August, knuckle valley-September, knuckle peak-October, knuckle valley-November, knuckle peak-December.
does that make any sense?! LOL

Your secret made me LOL. I am the same way, I barely know what day of the week it is half the time. My husband cracks up at me.

Awww Man —-Rae beat me to the knuckle thing. That’s how I’ve always known what days are in the months. I don ‘t start at the pinky but rather just at the pointer finger as it makes no difference…then I just switch hands. The “high” knuckles fingers all have 31 days in the month.

Thirty days hath september,
April, June, and November,
All the rest have thirty-one…
And there’s more to that poem to talk about february, but I don’t remember it. I usually only need 30 days hath sept/apr/june/nov. 🙂
