Adventures in couponing.

Got another fun little coupon trip to share with y’all. This particular week there were no spectacular deals at Albertsons, nor were there any doublers {sad face} But I was jonesin’ to coupon. So I found out about this sweet deal at Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer is a Pacific Northwest grocery store which I find to be more expensive than Albertsons and it doesn’t have the great sales or promotions either. So typically I only go there when they have good in-store coupons for something like their canned veggies and milk which they often have a good price on.
Anywayzzz – about this deal. Fab. Love it. Kraft cheese is regularly priced at $3.79 per bag. They were on sale 2 for $3. That on its own is a good deal. But oh no, still too much for me to pay – LOL They had those little blinkie boxes of coupons next to the cheese where you get $1 off of 2. An even better deal, right? And this is where it gets really good – there was a Kraft promo going on wherein you buy 5 bags of the cheese and you get $5 back. Uh-huh. So what that translates to is 17-cents per bag.
So I got 24 bags of cheese for $4.08.
And that, my friends is saving 96% – cha-ching!
But wait – there’s more….
I’m not a math whiz. I wish I were – but I’m not. It dawned on me that if I only bought the required 5 per transaction instead of 6, that overall I would get more off that transaction and get my price per bag down. So I ran the numbers and went back for more. Again, 2 for $3, makes 5 of them $7.50, take $2 off for the coupons which makes it $5.50 now and then get the $5 Catalina. Ah-ha! That takes them down to 10-cents per bag and it’s a party!
So on this trip I got 60 bags for $6.
Original price was $227.40.
…click….click….click…that’s a 97% savings!
Anyone wanna come over for some quesadillas…or cheese pizza?

You rock! I grew up watching my mom get things for free or dirt cheap with coupons and always thought it was amazing. I've been using coupons my entire life but I've yet to even dream about getting deals this amazing. I was just tickled when I got a bottle of softener for $1.99 this week. You have inspired me so much to really sit down and figure out where and when to shop in my area to get the best deals possible.
