About friends.

I have learned a lot about friendship lately – and I mean a lot. Not all good either – and that’s sad. This lady at work once told me “you want to know what people think about you, you get yourself laid up in the hospital and you’ll find out” – – boy howdy was she right! But beyond that, I’ve just had an interesting year with friends – or lack therof. And I’ve got to tell you – I think the internet is both good and bad for friendships. It’s good because you can send pictures right away, and you can keep in touch a lot more frequently – – several times a day even. But on the flipside, it’s very easy to take something written in an e-mail (as opposed to spoken), the wrong way. And it’s very easy to fire off an e-mail in the moment and *poof* years of friendship can go right down the drain.
As I get older, I’m finding it’s harder to make friends and to keep friends – the new ones. The friends that I have now have been my friends since high school and college. I have picked up friends along the way but they haven’t been able to last. Maybe I’m getting set in my ways and I’m less accepting and harder to accept? Who knows. Whoa – that was way more than you wanted to hear from me, eh? LOL In short – this card is a quick card just to send to a friend and say hey – I’m glad you’re my friend…sometimes things like that are hard to say…but easy to write….and not in an e-mail either!!

Have a wonderful Friday, girls.

Michelle, I know what you mean about friends. I’ve had friendships as an adult that turned out to be…not what I thought they were. I don’t know if that makes sense. I’ve noticed that I don’t have tolerance for certain behaviors from new friends. Life is too short to put up with crap you don’t have to deal with. I don’t like competition friendships and I’ve seen more of those as an adult than I ever did as a kid. I could go on and on about this, but I will spare you. Have a great day!

    PS: Beautiful card as usual!

Great card. I totally get what you’re saying about being less accepting…I am too. I can’t think of a “new” friend in the last 3 years at least… I was betrayed deeply by a “friend” a year and a half ago and I still haven’t gotten over it. So, I too, try to show appreciation for the few really good friends I do have.

Great card Michelle. I think a lot of people can relate to the friend issue, and maybe we should all be treasuring the GOOD ones we do have.

    Michelle,
I’m sorry you have had such a tough year with friends and I know most of what has happend. I hope you know I consider you a dear friend even though I don’t post everyday but I am here seeing your wonderful creations and reading your funny stories. I’m horrible at e-mails, heck even phone calls. If I don’t see you in person then sometimes your out of luck lol. I’m hoping one day to be able to meet you face to face instead of a keyboard.

Take care and your friend will love the beautiful card.

I love the card, and hope that your friend does, too. And I think we can all ditto a lot of what you said in your post!!! I know I can. Enjoy your day and have a sunshiney weekend!

Great card. I love the unique shape of it!
I totally feel what you mean about friends. I find each year we all change and you either grow closer as friens or grow apart. To be honest, I only really hang out with and talk on a regular basis to one person from high school and my one roommate from college. They are my closest friends. I do think the internet has helped and hurt friendships as well. We all just don’t hang out nearly enough, just because we can all just talk online. Hugs to you!

Let’s start on a happy note-the shape of that card is so cute, and I love the bright yellow paper and ribbon.
I don’t have much else to add about the friend thing (everybody else pretty much covered it), but I’m glad you’re my friend and an important part of my life.

Great card. Oh I understand because I have in the hospital a couple of times and only a handful of people checked on me. It is true we know who your friends are in times that are challenging.

I know what you mean about friends.. In writing, things can seem to be something completely different.. Being friends as kids .. that was fairly easy, even though it seemed hard at the time. Grown-ups can be tricky to deal with, I think.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this again, Michelle! Man, some people are too sensitive I think : ) Beautiful card…I hope your friend appreciates it!

Wonderful card and what a treat for your friend to receive! I totally understand what you are saying about friends – I have been burned before by people who I thought were my friends but most definitely were not.
