Papertrey Ink Blog Hop
Posted by Michelle on October 25th, 2009 . Filed under: Uncategorized . Hello and thanks for stopping in to visit along the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month’s Hop is a fun one: the Holiday Hop! The idea is to showcase cards, wraps, gifts or whatever you are creating for the holidays.
This year I’m all about Holiday on the Cheap – heh. And I think with some handmade touches to jazz up the packaging you can make a run-of-the-mill aka cheap gift go from drab to fab with a lil’ bit of creative effort.
I found these cute little packaged ring sets at Kohl’s in the spring – way after-Christmas clearance. They’re a cute enough gift, perfect for young girls. It’s got the little mannequin and then down at the bottom there are 3 pretty rings.
And here’s the Holiday on the Cheap part:
Yeah, I bought all 12 of them.
So I decided to apply something I’ve learned from watching Food Network and Top Chef: make the packaging look smokin’ hot, make the presentation something fantastic so that when they are served up a $1.60 gift, they are still on a high from the super packaging and think it’s the greatest gift ever *wink*
I have 4 different package tags here which I have cut out with my Top Note die and used a To/From tag from last year’s Holiday Tags Collection.
These first 2 tags feature papers from the Holiday Cheer patterned paper pack. I cut out some ornaments with a SU! punch and embellished with vintage buttons and some Perfect Match & Ribbon Couture ribbons from PTI. I also have some pretty Prima leaves and some silver holiday cord that is also from SU!
These next 2 tags feature papers from last year’s Holiday Vintage Prints from PTI. My Christmas tree is from the Tree Trimming Trio set and I’ve embellished it with some Dew Droplets and some vintage buttons. More pretty Prima leaves, some vintage trim, and then more ribbons from Papertrey Ink.
And here is my final presentation – my $1.60 gift all wrapped up nice and pretty in a brown paper sack, nice and simple and natural (and cheap) but really allows the tag and embellishing to pop.
Thanks for stopping in this evening.
Enjoy the Hop!
